The qualified 32 teams have been assigned to various groups where they will play against each other to proceed to the next level. Some groups can be simply be termed as hard to predict the outcomes since they comprise of the cream of football players. The groups run from A to H with group D being the “Group of Death“. This comprises of former 2006 champions Italy, who wants to regain their fame, Uruguay who finished 4th in the 2010 world cup competition, England and Costa Rica. Other groups to watch include group G comprising of Germany, Ghana, Portugal and USA. Group B which hosts the defending champion Spain, also includes Australia, Chile, and Holland. Will the best teams make it out of these groups and proceed to the quarterfinals or will they be bounced out in the first round? These are the questions that the 2014 World Cup in Brazil will aim to answer.

However, there are teams and players that were expected to make it to the World Cup but never made it. These include; Daniel Agger of Denmark, Czech Republic, Turkey, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Branislav Ivanovic, Theo Walcott, who has an injury among other key players.
